The hardest thing for me as a writer is to make that final edit and call it done. The fourteen books of the Runner Series are all written and have bee revised at least three times but are not done. Today I finished the final edits to Book 1, In the Beginning... and I must say it is a relief to be done, but hard to let your baby go. After all, there is always someplace the action lags, or some dialog that could be made a little more witty. Thousands of edits, and pages of cuts, and I believe it is a better book for all the work, even if it lost a little of its unique "charm."
Amazon's print on demand service is great for doing a soft launch. The book was uploaded several weeks ago but can be updated any time, but once the printers are making thousands, the days of editing are done.
I am up to page 25 so far and no errors that I could find. I will keep going and then off it goes to the printer, and we will begin creating the first Audiobook.
